Manufacturing

Being one of Victoria’s largest and most diverse industries, the Manufacturing industry is also one of the most physically challenging industries. Tasks are many and varied and employers must be on the ball to ensure that their workers are protected from the many hazards and safety issues that can potentially compromise their health and well being.

Manufacturing workers are as diverse as the industry they work in – young and old, trainees and apprentices, tradespeople and administration as well as workers who are culturally diverse, many with English as a second language.

Hazards generally found at a manufacturing site can include but are not limited to:

  • Manual handling – lifting, repetitive movements and tasks, pushing and pulling
  • High risk machinery and equipment – forklifts, lifting machinery, knives, saws and presses
  • Handling of and exposure to hazardous substances and dangerous goods – chemicals and compounds
  • Excessive noise
  • Extreme temperatures – hot or cold

Not all hazards will be obvious.  Our independent audits will identify hazards in your workplace with potential to cause injury or harm to you workers.  Workplaces need to be continually monitored to ensure that new hazards are identified without delay.
